These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the ANCHOR Genealogy website at anchorgenealogy.com, the ANCHOR Research Portal at portal.anchorgenealogy.com, and any research services provided by ANCHOR Sovereign, LLC ("ANCHOR," "we," "us," or "our").
By accessing or using our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use our services.
ANCHOR offers two primary types of services:
To use the Research Portal, you must create an account with a valid email address and a password of at least 8 characters. You are responsible for:
You may not share your portal access credentials with others. Each account is for use by a single individual.
What we promise: We will conduct thorough, professional genealogical research following recognized genealogical standards, document our methodology and sources, and deliver the agreed-upon materials within the estimated timeline.
What we cannot promise: Genealogical research is inherently uncertain. We cannot guarantee specific discoveries, the existence of particular records, or that research will produce the results you hope for. Records may have been destroyed, never created, or may not survive in accessible form. We will always be transparent about what we find — and what we cannot find.
Scope changes: If research reveals that a significantly different scope of work is required to meet your goals, we will communicate that and discuss options before proceeding with work beyond the agreed scope.
Payment terms for each research tier are as described on our pricing page and in your project agreement. By providing payment information, you authorize us to charge the agreed amounts according to the payment schedule.
Portal access is a one-time charge due at the time of purchase. Research service payments are due according to the milestone schedule for your selected tier.
All payments are processed securely through our third-party payment processor. ANCHOR does not store your full payment card number.
Your content: You retain ownership of all family history information, documents, photos, and other content you provide to us or upload to the portal. You grant ANCHOR a limited license to use this content solely to provide our services to you.
Research deliverables: Upon full payment, you own the research deliverables we produce for you (family tree data, narrative documents, source citations). You may use them for personal, educational, and non-commercial family history purposes.
Our platform: The ANCHOR Research Portal software, design, and technology are owned by ANCHOR Sovereign, LLC. You may not copy, reverse engineer, or distribute the portal software.

Our collection and use of personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
OUR SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that the portal will be error-free, uninterrupted, or free of security vulnerabilities. Genealogical research results are provided without warranty as to completeness or accuracy.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, ANCHOR SOVEREIGN, LLC SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OUR SERVICES, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF OUR SERVICES SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO ANCHOR IN THE THREE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
You may cancel your portal account at any time by contacting us at info@anchorgenealogy.com. Portal access fees are non-refundable unless otherwise specified in our Refund Policy.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. We will provide notice where reasonable, except in cases of serious or repeated violations.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which ANCHOR Sovereign, LLC is registered, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms shall first be addressed through good-faith direct negotiation. If unresolved, disputes shall be subject to binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email (if you have an account) and by updating the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of our services after the effective date of changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
